What is Hydradermabrasion?
Dry, scaly texture is just one symptom of skin that needs a helping hand to feel healthy again. Skin resurfacing and rejuvenating procedures have grown in popularity in the last decade to cater to the demands of patients who want effective, in-office beauty treatments. This interest has led to advances within the skin resurfacing field that promote faster healing and minimize downtime and side effects. (1)
Hydradermabrasion is an advanced technique that uses the combined power of aqueous solutions and oxygen to thoroughly refresh tired-looking skin, helping you look and feel your best for that special occasion or life event. The HydraFacial uses patented hydradermabrasion technology to achieve effective results without the need for harsh chemicals or surgery, providing a radiant, practically instant glow!
About HydraFacial
The three-stage HydraFacial treatment can restore and rejuvenate your skin with no discomfort and minimal preparation!
Step 1: Cleanses and gently peels facial skin. The gentle exfoliator handpiece provides a comfortable but effective resurfacing experience.
Step 2: Extracts impurities and provides hydration. This step simultaneously suctions away dead skin cells and debris while still moisturizing the treatment area.
Step 3: Fuses and protects skin with customizable boosters based on your preferences. Peptides and antioxidants saturate and penetrate the newly resurfaced skin for a clean, fresh, glowing finish.
A Gentler Skin Care Option
HydraFacials do not “blast” the skin with microcrystals like other conventional skin resurfacing methods. Rather than crystal-based microdermabrasion techniques, HydraFacial treatments use a one-of-a-kind Vortex-Fusion delivery system to exfoliate, extract and hydrate skin. (2) This three-step process gently smooths and improves the skin’s appearance using water and oxygen. Patients can address the following conditions with a HydraFacial treatment with the appropriate boosters.
- Acne-Damaged Skin
- Blackheads
- Blemishes
- Clogged Pores
- Dry Skin
- Enlarged Pores
- Fine Lines
- Hyperpigmentation
- Oily Skin
- Sun Damage
- Uneven Skin Tone
- Wrinkles
With integration of level 1 & 2 serums, the HydraFacial MD can address:
- Sun damage
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin texture irregularities
- Rosacea
JLO BEAUTY® Booster

Benefits of a HydraFacial
Hydradermabrasion techniques are proven to improve skin quality and increase the skin’s antioxidant levels. (3) The spiral power of each HydraFacial handpiece allows for precise exfoliation, extraction and nourishing serum infusion deep into the skin. It’s also highly customizable, so your treatment can be designed to meet your specific requirements. What’s more, unlike some other skin resurfacing treatments, it’s suitable for all skin types and sensitivities because of its gentler delivery method.
Antioxidants for Skin Health
Antioxidants play an important role in the body. They neutralize harmful cell-damaging free radicals that also play a role in skin aging. Topical antioxidants, such as those applied to the skin in the final stage of a HydraFacial, help combat the free radicals that cause damage to skin cells. (4) Additionally, the HydraFacial treatment supplies the skin with peptides. Peptides help the body fight bacteria, and promote the production of collagen and elastin, two essential ingredients for younger-looking skin.
No Downtime
Unlike more invasive skin rejuvenation treatments, HydraFacials are performed in-office and have zero downtime. You’ll be able to schedule your treatment, complete the procedure, then get back to your schedule the very same day. There’s no harsh side effects, no pain, and no intensive post-treatment instructions to follow.
HydraFacial Candidates
HydraFacials are adaptable, multifaceted cosmetic treatments with a lot of scope for customization. Because of this, they’re suitable for patients with darker skin tones, patients with aging skin, patients with sensitive skin, and those with very oily or very dry skin. Please note the following points if you are taking certain prescription medications, or if you have used at-home facials:
- Stop prescription acne medications (isotretinoin/Accutane) at least six months before your HydraFacial. Please inform us if you use Retin-A or other topical retinoid products.
- Please tell us if you have received skin resurfacing treatments in the past, and how long ago. This includes home microdermabrasion and skin resurfacing kits.
A HydraFacial treatment is not recommended for people with:
- Active acne
- Active infections or open wounds (e.g. cold sores)
- Autoimmune or communicable diseases
- Abnormal, unidentified facial growths or marks

Personal Consultation
We invite all current and prospective patients to Phoenix Skin Spa for a personal consultation where the Hydrafacial is offered. We’ll ask you to provide some basic health information and find out exactly how we can help you. We will also outline the benefits of a HydraFacial treatment, examine your facial skin, and if the procedure is a good match for your needs, we’ll schedule your treatment date.
A HydraFacial is a great choice for people who want to look their best for an upcoming photo shoot, wedding, graduation or other special occasion. It also works just as well for people just looking to give their skin that added boost of vitality!
Preparation
Before your HydraFacial, we’ll ask you to follow some preparatory instructions. These include:
- Discontinuing Accutane acne treatments six months before you plan to get a HydraFacial
- Refraining from receiving chemical peel treatments in the two weeks prior to your HydraFacial.
- Avoiding any skin exfoliation treatments like glycolic acid or enzymes.
- Limiting UV light exposure at least 72 hours before your treatment
- Ceasing retinoids (e.g. Retin A), salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide usage a few days before treatment.
- Refraining from waxing or using hair removal cream on the treatment area
Getting a HydraFacial
A HydraFacial procedure is fast and convenient. It leaves your skin looking younger and smoother without damaging its surface. Your treatment will begin on clean skin with the application of an attachment that exfoliates and cleanses deep into your pores. The specially prepared aqueous solution jets through the handpiece at high speeds, but cleans gently, while you sit in comfort! After the first stage of the treatment is complete, we will carefully extract impurities while ensuring your skin is well-hydrated. Here, we’ll pay close attention to common areas where imperfections arise such as the T-zone. Finally, a tailored mix of customizable skin booster serums will cover your face liberally to absorb into your freshly exfoliated skin. Most HydraFacial treatments are complete in just 30-40 minutes from start to finish!
HydraFacial Results
Following your luxurious HydraFacial treatment, your face will feel cleaner, smoother, and fresher. You may experience some temporary skin redness, but this will resolve quickly – usually in just a few hours. Patients love that they can get a HydraFacial, and carry on with their day as normal immediately afterwards. We advise you to keep your skin free from makeup for 24 hours, and in that time to also avoid any strenuous exercise. You’ll be able to show off your glowing skin in the coming days and be prepared to look your very best.

FAQ
Is a HydraFacial the same as microdermabrasion?
A HydraFacial is similar to standard types of microdermabrasion treatments available, but there are some notable differences. Most microdermabrasion techniques involve blasting the skin with small crystals to remove dirt and debris. HydraFacial technology is much gentler, but just as effective. It employs the use of aqueous solutions at supersonic speeds to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin with nutrients.
Does a HydraFacial procedure hurt?
Not at all! Some patients find the experience like a very strong suction on the skin’s surface, but it does not cause pain, making it a more comfortable choice compared to other skin exfoliation methods.
How often can I get a HydraFacial treatment?
Patients who love the results of their HydraFacial are safe to repeat the procedure four weeks after their treatment to maintain their brighter, blemish-free results.
